To all Holland America Club members;

The following is my report on the first meeting of the new HAC board held
on Monday, August 29, in Dallas.

The meeting started at 7pm with all but one board member present.  The
agenda was full and many reports were given by our Secretary, Membership
Chair, Reservations Chair, Webmaster, Program Chair and Communications
Chair.  We closed our year with 82 memberships, consisting of 147 adults
and 46 children.

It is with sadness that the Board just learned of the passing of long term
HAC member Rachel Hoefnagel last June.  We offer our sincere condolences
to Eric, the family and to friends.

As you may have seen on our website, we are now able to pay our dues
and/or event costs via 'paypal', credit card, as well as by check.

The club's next event is the picnic/membership drive on Sunday,  September
11 in Waxahachie, at the farm of our members Kars and Grace Tamminga.  See

fun for young and old with activities, swimming, good food and great
folks....erg gezellig.  Unfortunately I'll be flying to Montreal that day
and will miss this great event.

Details for a Fall Celebration in October are still being worked out. 
Please keep checking our website for information as it becomes available.

We will gather on Sunday, December 4th and are very hopeful that
Sinterklaas will be arriving with his helpers, to spend an afternoon with
our children. It does not feel like it, but December will be here before
we know it...echt waar!  Again, please go to our website for announcements
and updates.

I thought the new board worked very well together and a lot was
accomplished.  All members are encouraged to attend the board meetings
held on Mondays
in Dallas [La Madeleine's, 3072 Mockingbird Ln.] The next one is scheduled
for Monday November 7.

Is there anyone out there who is willing to help me out and write a few
words about the picnic?  I will be flying on September 11 and can
therefore not come to the picnic.  Please contact me by e-mail and/or
phone if you can write an article for our members.
